thankyou thankyou thankyou!!!!!
pickme thanks for your help...... i managed to trace the fault back to the fusible links under the bonnet (osf) it was link number 4 which protects the engine management relay module... it was a big 30 amp sucker!!!.... traced back wiring etc the best i could but no clear signs of what went wrong.... plugged a new fuse in and the sound of the fuel pump at position 2 was nearly as great as her firing up at 3!!!! i shall see what happens now but i am nervous as to why she blew!!! not been on a good run yet so i may be back but once again thanks and if you have any suggestions as to what it could be that would be great, I was thinking along the lines of a short circuit?????

Major 4 year resto completed. Car ran fine before project commencement engine back in and all components refitted but won't turn over or start on key although starter turns when bridged out. All fuses intact and main 30a fuses new. New earth strap to block and body, ECU earth to body point by servo. Injectors click when 9v passed through. All connections secure.
fuel pump can't be heard on key turn, new relays and s/h engine management relay fitted. Immobiliser works and fobs ok.

Relay
Basically, it sounds like you have a primary power loss, so you need to look at these areas. Not sure whats on an MPi mini but start at the battery and move forwards via the battery, the battery clamp, battery cable clamp on the starter motor, primary power supply to the fuse box, power supply to the ignition key position 3, power from the ignition key position 3 back to the starter solenoid to switch the relay, power from the fuse box through the fuses to the engine management relay box and the mems unit itself, power supply to the fuel pump, etc etc etc. To start with you want the to hear the fuel pump at position 2 and the starter motor at position 3. From there on, hopefully it should be straight forward.
